In the grand scheme of things, Audi hasn’t really been selling cars in the U.S. for all that many years. In fact, Audi USA wasn’t established until 1970. But after 40 years, Audi has reached a major milestone, selling more than two million cars here.

According to Audi Newport Beach, the two millionth vehicle that Audi sold was a A3 TDI in Southern California. Thanks to Audi’s rapidly growing market-share in the luxury car market, we expect the German automaker to reach the 3 millionth vehicle sold milestone in much less time.

“The story of Audi in the U.S. is really a story written by the hundreds of thousands of people who’ve invited our brand into their lives,” said Johan de Nysschen, President, Audi of America. “We’re grateful for those opportunities.”

To mark this achievement, Audi will be launching a social media campaign inviting enthusiasts to imagine how Audi vehicles and personal transportation will appear when the brand reaches 3 million in sales. Go to facebook.com/audi under “Driver’s Spotlight” for details.
