Audi’s CEO Rupert Stadler is sure that the brand will become the world’s leading luxury automaker within the next few years. Already a strong seller than Mercedes-Benz, Audi is now taking aim at BMW.

In a recent interview, Stadler said that Audi will overtake BMW by 2015. This growth is will partly be attributed to Audi’s broadening lineup, which has also just added the entry-level A1 and is hoped to be a high-volume success.

Our target is to become the leading premium brand in the world. It won’t happen in 2010. It won’t happen in 2011. But it will definitely happen.

Aside from a more diverse lineup of vehicles, Orange County Audi says that Audi is also investing heavily in new technologies and in the Chinese market, both of which are expected to fuel the brand’s growth over the next few years.
